Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Lingonberries are well known in Scandinavia, but not here which is too bad! These wonderful bright-red edible berries are somewhat like cranberries and are much loved as preserves, juice and syrup and have been long used medicinally. Lingonberries keep their pretty evergreen leaves on 12 inch clumps even in the coldest winters; they are self-fertile so you only need to plant one, but they do look wonderful when mass planted. S-PSh/M/Acid (not dry)
Dense, low growing, evergreen thicket 8-10” high spreading eventually to 3’ wide. Pretty white bell flowers in spring become fat, bright red little Lingonberries in summer. Yes, this is what they use to make that yummy sweet-tart beverage at IKEA! Acid soil that is well drained and always moist, full sun is best, deer and critter resistant; self-pollinating heavy bearer (if planted with another cultivar it may increase production eve more). Pretty edible!
Lingonberry. This is a good selection of a very ornamental edible which yields the Lingonberries so prized in Europe. 'Koralle' is a compact heavy fruiter from Germany which runs less and bears heavy crops of rich red berries twice a year which are good anti-oxidants, Moist rich soil is good.
A low, dense, evergreen shrub that creeps to form a dense thicket. It produces small white flowers in midspring and a crop (sometimes two) of large, bright red berries in summer. Foliage turns an attractive mahogany in winter. Best in full sun and evenly moist, acid soil. AGM winner.
