Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Named by Bob Tichnor, of Aurora, Oregon. This long blooming deciduous daphne has golden variegated leaves. D 'Summer Ice' is the same hybrid as D. 'Jims Pride'. But, is variegated and blooms for a shorter time.
The sweetly scented, white with an apple blossom flush flowers on this daphne may persist for 6 months! The foliage is small, semi-evergreen and edged with a thin line of ivory white on gray-green. During average winters about half of the leaves are retained and in especially cold winters all the leaves are lost. They tend to maintain a consistent habit for 10-20 years and require little pruning. Their lives may be prolonged with a sunny location and limited fertilizer. They do not appreciate being moved once in the ground. Planting where their lovely fragrance can be often appreciated is recommended.
This daphne has some great qualities not before seen in the genus: an incredibly long bloom period and it's easy to grow. 'Summer Ice' forms a mounded shrub with beautifully fragrant (like sweet baby powder) white flowers with an apple blossom flush that bloom from early April until November. As if that weren't enough the leaves sport a crisp white trim. Semi-evergreen in average winters. Deciduous in hard winters. Rich, well-drained soil in sun. Do not move after planting.
A variegated version of Jim's Pride fantastic looking exceptionally free flowering it is confused in the nursery trade with other variegated caucasica forms, daphnes in general seem very prone to throwing variegated shoots.
Fragrant pink-white flowers spring through summer, semi-evergreen, good drainage, Zones 6-8.
In our opinion this is the best variegated Daphne for the garden. A hybrid of D. caucasica, it really blooms all summer long with fragrant pink to white flowers. Semi-evergreen foliage is delicately rimmed with white and is always attractive. 4' x 4'.
A very prolific bloomer with the same shape as 'Jim's Pride' with silvery edged leaves, giving the shrub an overall shimmer, especially in summer.

A pleasing variegated form that is quite popular. And why not with fragrant cluster of white flowers all summer and into fall. 3' x 3' plants.
A choice evergreen daphne with variegated foliage and a propensity to bloom from spring until fall. The leaves have a fine, creamy white edge, less prominent than that of 'Carol Mackie', and the fragrant white flowers appear in clusters that dot the bush right through summer. Rounded, shrubby habit.
