Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Meet the master. 'Charles Grimaldi' teaches us the meaning of such words as "profusion" and "fragrance." The trumpets are a luminous orange. The richness of color catches the eye, the intense fragrance delights the nose and the profuse blooms add joy to any living space.
Sweet lily-like perfume fills the air on warm summer evenings. Huge pendant blooms open yellow and age to a fine apricot hue with waves of bloom that develop during summer and early fall. Feed and water generously, and be sure to keep from year to year; you will be rewarded with curtains of fragrant bloom. Poisonous
Unsurpassed for its wide ranging delicious fragrance & its almost continuous prolific bloom, ‘Charles Grimaldi’ is also the showiest of all Brugmansias. Easy & fast growing – reaching to 10’ tall its first year – it’s a marvelous choice for a small yard, especially when its sweet perfume wafts in through your doors & windows each evening. Huge, recurved & strongly reflexed trumpets start out soft yellow in color & age to gold. Can easily be trimmed to size or selectively prune out all but your favorite strongest branches for a more sophisticated appearance. Mr. Grimaldi loves moist, rich soil, so make sure you top-dress him with a layer of compost twice a year or leaves will turn yellowish. Underplant with a blue Hydrangea for color coordinated bliss! Hardy to 20-25 °F.
