(VARIEGATED SWEET FLAG) Named for its sweetly fragrant leaves and rhizomes, this baby is happiest with wet feet (goes to 9” deep aquatic), but will grow in ordinary garden conditions as long as it doesn’t dry out. The grassy Iris like foliage is about 2’ tall on slowly creeping rhizomes (the rhizomes are cool looking and tend to stay on the surface). Also great in a pot in a saucer of water… Just a nice foliage accent plant! USDA Zone 4  3” pot
A strongly variegated form of our native species celebrated in poem (Whitman didn't tell you it was a dangerous hallucinogen) strange spathe and spadix flowers. ZONE 5

This perennial grows to 30", its strap like foliage is deep green with white margins. Loves streambanks and bog edges and sunshine. The flower spike on this Arum relative is 6-8" of small flowers similar to that in a jack-in-the-pulpit. Also called Sweet Flag has long been recognized by Native Americans as a medicinal plant. We are excited to offer this North American native!
