Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Mahonia eurybracteata x M. gracilipes. This pretty plant came to us from Richie Steffan as a group of seedlings. We selected a plant with gray under the deep green foliage, which comes form the M. gracilipies side. The over all plant looks like M. eurybracteata but has the gray under its leaves.
This hybrid of two lovely species combines the large to 2' or more leaves of Mahonia gracilipes, and with M. confusa's beautiful sprays of apricot to gold fall flowers. Evergreen to 5 to 6' with each rosette being 3' or more topped with coppery new growth and pale leaf undersides, this makes a great focal point for light woodland with occasional summer watering and average soil conditions. USDA Zone 7b.
