Nursery contributed plant descriptions

It's interesting to see plants we have introduced to the U.S. gardening community become more widely available. We first grew P. 'Flaming Silver' in the early '80's and still enjoy its beautiful growth and foliage. The new growth is brilliant pink and later turns into rich variegated evergreen foliage. Very limited number of flowers. Our 25 year old plant is 3' tall.
Evergreen shrub with red new foliage growth. White urn-shaped flower clusters appear at about the same time as the new leaves are emerging. Leaves turn pink as the season progresses, then finally to green with silvery-white edges.
Handsome silver-edged foliage is "flaming silver" in spring when it opens a brilliant pinkish-red... and outstanding and vigorous (to 4-5') selection. Sun-PSh/Med
Evergreen, Variegated foliage fiery-red new growth. White bell flowers spring, Hardy to zone 6.
Leaves emerge red edged with pink and mature to green edged in silvery-white. Plant will grow to 3-4' with abundant white flowers every spring. A gorgeous plant for year-round interest.

One of the finer Variegated plants and while it has the same lovely white blooms as many in the species do but it's stunning, best feature is the foliage. Slow growing to 6 feet, it appreciates shelter from full sun. There are other variegated forms but this is touted as the Treasure among Treasures! The new foliage is red (like Mountain Fire) BUT on a variegated shrub. Ohmagosh! Amazing!

A very choice variegated selection. Silver-edged foliage is set off by spectacular pinkish-red new growth. White flowers in early spring. Best in partial shade; foliage may burn in full sun. Compact habit. AGM winner.
