Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Go big with this extra-large trumpet-style “Daffodil”! Similar in size to the well-known ‘King Alfred’, this showy, lightly fragrant variety has 5-6” blooms with pure white outer petals and frilly-edged, yellow-throated trumpets that begin a glowing apricot then mature to pretty-in-pink. Held atop 18-24” tall, strong stems, the blooms make for quite a show in early Spring, especially when planted in numbers. Use as a dramatic background behind shorter Spring bulbs such as Hyacinths, Scilla, or Freesia. Great for a mixed sun and shade woodland bed or even to line a walkway. Their height makes them an excellent choice as cut flowers for taller vases. Known to naturalize, there is no need to dig up the bulbs, but make sure to give them room to return in greater numbers next year. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil and add a bit of bulb food at the time of planting. Let foliage wither to return energy to the bulb. A favorite destination for bees but very deer proof!
