Here's a clear example of why bigger is not always better. Daffodil Quail is not the tallest, not does it produce the largest flowers. But it's perfectly formed yellow blooms, with shorter cups, are carried 2 or 3 to a stem, it blooms before many other narcissus and it's sweetly fragrant. Quail is also one of the most reliable daffodils for the Deep South. And a bargain.

Quail is one of my favorites. Expect 2-3 fragrant flowers per stem. It has grown and bloomed reliably for years here in zone 8b. It should perform well up to zone 9 and down to zone 3. Daffodils are reliable naturalizers with long lasting flowers. Great for cut flowers or for announcing spring to the whole neighborhood. They bloom early and profusely. These bulbs are small but blooming sizel at 8-10 cm around. These will produce one flower stem the first year and more ever after.
