Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The soft, deep-purple of the foliage seems to contrast perfectly with the small creamy-yellow flowers in attractive, slowly-spreading, 2-3' clumps. PSh/M-W
This is a spreading little monster but I have it in my sun border at home and I love it. The foliage is completely burgundy. It looks great popping out of the ground in spring and as the stems begin to rise. As they get taller they begin to command too much attention which is exactly when they're tall enough to reach over and selectively yank out of the ground. The bright yellow star-shaped flowers are held in loose clusters on the three foot burgundy stalks and look fantastic against the dark foliage.
Deep purple leaves and stems; yellow flowers in the leaf axils provide striking contrast. Runs a bit, but is pretty enough to be forgiven. ZONE 4
A semi-evergreen perennial which over winters as flat, nearly black rosettes of broad rounded leaves. Slender branching stems of brown-purple wedge shaped leaves rise from the rosettes in mid-Spring and grow throughout the summer to be followed in late February by small five petalled yellow flowers. Slowly spreading to form dense colonies. The winter rosettes are the perfect foil for early flowering small bulbs which are then covered by the Summer growth.Cut to ground level when the foliage withers.Prefers a moist soil and full sun during winter for best foliage colour.
