Yes it fruits but it's fine textured evergreen foliage is fantastic! The bright pink new growth of spring matures to a dusty blue-green with hints of pink in summer, followed by deep purplish-blue in fall which deepens through winter. Clusters of 3/8" blue fruit that ripen in May-June, follow the light pink bell-shaped flowers of early spring. Excellent for muffins, pancakes, or fresh eating. A tough dwarf native blueberry with as much to offer the pallette of the mouth as well as the garden.
Most blueberries have interesting fall color; this evergreen form has spring color as well. New leaves, narrow and fine-textured, emerge in reddish pink, changing to blue-green blushed pink before taking on their purple-blue fall color. Of course, they produce tasty blueberries, the pinkish, spring flowers developing into an early summer crop. Low-growing, possibly reaching 3' tall and wide, these natives of the sand dunes along the Gulf Coast, are drought tolerant in full sun to light shade and frost hardy in USDA zone 8.
