Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This delightful perennial groundcover offers not only stalks of fragrant white fairy-bell flowers in spring but wide variegated foliage to be enjoyed the rest of the season. PSh-Sh/M
Variegated lily of the valley is a fairly uncommon variety of groundcover for partial shade. It has the same fragrant white flowers in spring as the species but the foliage features a beautiful margin of gold that turns to cream throughout the growing season. Growing in dry shade it was quite slow to increase for me; 2 became 5 over a period of 4 years. Consistent moisture is a major key to increasing quickly, 5 became almost 30 since last summer. Now we can share them with you! Just like the common lily of the valley, this can be a fast spreading thick groundcover. I don't recommend it as a companion for smaller plants. It is great for large perennials like big hostas, Ligularia, Kirengeshoma etc. or under large shrubs or small trees.
Edged lily of the valley. Green leaves with a thin gold edge. The photo was taken late in the season when the edge had faded quite a bit. It is very pronounced in the spring and summer. White flowers. Both of these are grow just a the more common version and spread just as quickly if they are in a place where they are happy.
