This narrowly-upright tree (to 40' x 10') makes a perfect windbreak or privacy screen with its shiny bright-green toothed leaves which flutter in the wind and look pretty against its white bark as does the variable yellow, orange and red fall color; a fine tree that is seedless and very adaptable to cold and can withstand road-salt. S/M
Very narrow form, but still with the flat, rounded leaves that flutter and rustle in the wind. Green leaves turn yellow in the fall. Great for tight spaces or lining a driveway. Growth Rate fast
A very tight columnar tree with great hardiness, to 40' tall and only 10' wide. The new leaves are red and showy while the roots are much less prone to suckering than quacking aspen.
Swedish Aspen (Columnar Swedish Aspen, Populus tremula 'Erecta'), is native to the forests of Sweden. This slender tree is great for smaller spaces, screens and along drives. It is probably the narrowest of the columnar trees. It is well adapted to very cold climates, but needs adequate moisture. This tree is an excellent substitute for a Lombardy Poplar in cooler climates. Used for small yards, as a screen or a vertical accent. It has none invasive root systems and is cotton-less. The fall color can range from orange to red. This aspen is an excellent tree for lining driveways or group plantings.
