Evergreen shrub with dazzling spring foliage! New growth is bright red, then pink, creamy white, and finally settling to a dark green. White urn-shaped flower clusters set atop the lovely foliage in early spring. Growth Rate slow
Often asked for selection grown for its brilliant display of new growth. Bright red soon turns to hot pink, then creamy white and finally matures as glossy dark green. 6-8 feet H x 6-8 feet wide. Shade to full sun. 6 inch white panicles in spring.
The hardiness of P. japonica was combined with the brilliant red growth of 'Wakehurst'. The new foliage passes through a kaleidoscope of colors from bright red, through pink, creamy white, and finally to green. The flowers are large drooping panicles of white. Introduced from England.
