Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Winter daphne blooms in February and March with purple buds opening to white, lusciously fragrant flowers. Plant in part sun/part shade with morning or late afternoon sun (protect it from the hottest sun of the day) in rich, well-drained soil. Winter daphne should offer just the lift you need to get you through the end of winter and into the excitement of spring. Do not move after planting as the roots are sensitive to disturbance.
Evergreen, twiggy shrub growing to 4' with a 6' spread. The narrow, glossy leaves are accented by clusters of fragrant, waxy flowers that open white to pale pink with tinges of dark pink or even red from late fall to mid-spring. This frost tender beauty thrives in well-drained soils with judicious summer watering. Hardy to 25F.
More powerfully fragrant than all the daphnes, with a spicy undertone (Genders); in a warm location, this 3 foot evergreen shrub can produce its deep-pink flowers all winter. PSh/Med(notdry)/GdDrain
This densely branched, rounded evergreen shrub grows in a broadly spreading form to 4'. The heavenly scented, deep, purple-pink with white flowers emerge in early spring in clusters amidst the 3-4" glossy, leathery, deep green leaves. Bloom period is long. This daphne does well in mostly shade and should always be protected from hot afternoon sun. It also likes a little lime at planting time in acid soils.
