Single, fringed shocking-magenta-pink flowers atop a 4-6" tall mat of outstanding silvery-blue, needle-like foliage made this the 2006 ?Perennial of the Year?; a lovely border edger, groundcover, container plant. S/M
Dianthus gratianopolitanus ‘Firewitch’ is a former winner of Perennial Plant of the Year! One of the best of all the Cheddar Pinks for its mounded, silvery-blue foliage and a bright display of single magenta flowers in spring. Sporadically re-blooms all summer. Deer resistant. Cheddar Pinks grow best in well-drained, loose soil that is not wet in winter. Drought tolerant. Requires little water once established.
Blue-grey, evergreen foliage and a long summer display of magenta pink flowers with a sweet and spicy fragrance. Lovely for picking. Plant at the edge of your patio, on the edge of a wall or along the driveway or pathways where you can enjoy the foliage, flowers and fragrance. Selected by the Perennial Plant Association as Perennial Plant of the Year 2006.
Dense mat of tiny blue, needle-like evergreen leaves create an illusion of a blue pool en masse! Single, shocking magenta pink flowers with fringed edges float a couple of inches above the 4-6" tall foliage sporadically all summer and into the fall. Nice edging, rock garden plant or ground cover…will spill over edges. Happiest in loose, well drained slightly alkaline soils…full sun…water when dry. Best grown with little or no fertilizer.
