Vaccinium nummularia plant details

Always be on the lookout for plants that make the front edges of the shade garden look sharp and tidy while also lush and abundant. This little tuck-it-in plant really fits the bill. The deep forest green, high glossy leaves are sturdy and look just as good during the blustery drippy days as they do when glistening in the sun. Low to the ground, it defines the border nicely without blocking the view of taller plants behind it. Spectacular enough as a foliage plant, it has very pretty little dark pink flower clusters in spring, and black berries in the fall. Beautiful all year round, seasonal variations, edible, all that in a shade plant. Yes. A must.

Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Small growing huckleberry with small glossy evergreen leaves. This is a really pretty 18”x18” evergreen shrub for the semi shaded garden.
An absolute beautiful plant with a curious name! Small, glossy and very neat leaves decorate the low, spreading 6-12" branches. Dense clusters of tiny pink to rose-red spring flowers decorate this 3' wide spreading groundcover. The blooms are followed by small crops of yummy edible black berries in the fall. This treasure hails from the rocky places and thickets in the montane (6-11,000') forests of the Himalayas. This is a wonderfully unique addition to the unusual or edible landscape. PSh/M
