Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Blooming copiously, 'Askival' has bright lavender-pink open blooms with prominent stamens over a small mound of narrow leaves. The flower on this cultivar is more like its parent, Kalmiopsis. It does well in a container, rockery, your alpine garden, or in any well-drained garden spot. The intergeneric hybrid is between Phyllodoce (mountain heaths and heathers) and Kalmiopsis (from Oregon's southwest regions). Plant in acidic soil and be careful not to overwater. 12 - 14" x 9 - 12" mounding evergreen shrublet. Minimum temperature: -40?F
