Though a bit touchy, this gem (an unusual cross between Phyllodoce and Kalmiopsis) forms a hummock of tiny leaves topped in spring by spikes of bright magenta pink bells; prune after flowering. S-PSh/M(not dry)/GD
An unusual crossing of Phyllodoce breweri and Kalmiopsis leachiana, from Hilliers Nursery in England. Dwarf and hardy, forming hummocks of small flattened leaves. Bell-shaped purplish-pink flowers in terminal spikes. Heavily flowering and needs to be pruned immediately after to initiate new growth.

This intergeneric hybrid in the heath family blankets itself with deep pink, bell-shaped flowers in midspring, often producing a second, smaller show in fall. It forms a spreading mound of fine, dark green foliage. Needs well-drained, acid soil. A good choice for an alpine garden.
