Nursery contributed plant descriptions

?A splendid slow-growing shrub? (Hillier), this 3-9' blueberry relative combines large (4-5") leaves (showy red and purple in autumn) with pendulous clusters of white-tinted-red spring ?bells? followed by shiny black fruit. S-PSh/M
Native to the Black Sea region, from the Caucasus to Turkey and Bulgaria. This erect, densely branched, deciduous shrub may grow to 10' at maturity but can be kept as a much smaller bush by pruning. The large leaves, up to 4” long, provide brilliant purple and red fall color. Charming midsummer flowers are white with pink touches, bell shaped and waxy. While the shiny, purple-black fruit are edible, they are not really pleasant.
