Nursery contributed plant descriptions

One of the many reason to be happy for our foggy bayside summers!! This rare & spectacular tree blooms intermittently throughout the year, with 6” long, golden yellow flowers that look more like a clarinet than a trumpet. The leaves are covered in small, downy hairs, & it eventually will reach 10’ tall, with an equal canopy spread, & a substantial trunk. Brugmansia sanguinea is less tolerant of heat than other Brugmansias, & prefers it to be consistently cool, with ample moisture & rich soil. Many places in the San Francisco Bay Area have the perfect climate, though, & here it can be easily grown if regular irrigation is provided. I’ve seen a few respectably large, stately specimens, & when well-grown, they’re always a knockout. Shelter from wind.
