Plant on FIRE! Late summer 'DRAMA QUEEN' that gets all the attention…sizzling deep orange flowers with scarlet red centers July > Sept – Pair these with red Penstemon and a bit of yellow and watch the heat…or pair with a blue aster and see how opposites attract! Full sun, most soils – If you can bear to take a stalk or two away from the hummers they make dynamite cut flowers too – 2 ½' tall, slowly expanding clump – Easy to grow and maintain –
Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora ‘Emily McKenzie’ displays arching spikes of orange flowers with maroon rings surrounding yellow eyes. The green, sword-like foliage also provides interest in the garden. Divide every 3-4 years for best flower production. Montbretia adds long lasting color to mixed perennial borders, containers or mass plantings. Prefers light, humus-rich, well-drained soil. A winter mulch in cooler climates is helpful.
Emily McKenzie produces smoky orange flowers with a mahogany eye. These blooms pop from sprays of orange buds encased in purple sheaths. Fun in the garden and fabulous as accents in bouquets with peach dahlias.

A distinctive cultivar from 1954, 'Emily Mackenzie' is a vigorous, free-flowering plant with extra large (for a crocosmia) dark orange flowers with yellow throats each surrounded by a red ring. Plant in well-drained, rich soil in full sun. Crocosmia is distinguished by tall, sword-shaped leaves and arching stems of flowers in shades of yellow, orange and red. The blooms attract hummingbirds and are excellent for cutting. Full to part sun in average to moist well-drained soil.
Above a sea of bronze-toned foliage, dark purple calyxes highlight 'Emily Mckenzie's wide-open, yellowish orange flowers, and dramatic maroon markings decorate their pale orange centers. To enhance the stunning carousel of color, pair this robust beauty with Aster 'Bill's Big Blue'.
A tough cormous evergreen perennial for light shade. Fans of tall, strappy, sword-like, bronze green foliage, with pale red stems, arise from clusters of Gladioli-like corms. It bears in late summer spikes of large orange starry, lily-like flowers with mahogany markings.A splendid and unusual perennial, a must for any keen gardener, quickly clumping.Rare.All crocosmias are wonderful plants and deserve to be more widely grown. They are particularly valued for their bright flowers that appear before the autumn flowers start and when many of the summer flowers are taking a bit of break.
