It’s a sunny All Saint’s Eve around these parts. But rumor has it, that’s all done. It was so gorgeous while it lasted. I meant to take a photo of the Ashe Magnolia in its fiery glory, but by the time I got back to it the following day, the wind had had its way. Photo for illustrative purposes only. There’s no time for careful light-condition planning. See explanation of my-life-not-being-my-own-these-days bellow.

Magnolia macrophylla var. ashei

I’d like to introduce, Chiquita. She’s been with us for 3 weeks. A brindle Boxer from her ears back, with a Pittie face–about a year old, and 35 pounds. We adopted her from the Oregon Humane Society after she was Fido-Flighted from Oklahoma, home of my mom’s birth.

Very merry Boxer from the rear view.

From the front, a little Pittie Pup.

In fairness, I gave her the Kleenex box for 10 seconds of something to do.

Chiquita is a busy girl, and the other day to prove we’d picked the right name, she ate my banana. Some days, I’m absolutely sure I’ve made a horrible mistake. But I did say, I wanted to get more exercise, and to her credit, I most assuredly am. Chickie is smart and eager to learn–albeit scared of a few things, like loud noises, tree stumps fashioned into seating, and my ear buds. Also to her credit, she loves people and other animals. Of course, some negotiation is still underway with Mister and Posy.

Just when I think they can’t get along.

Chiquita and I are still negotiating garden space. I’ve been drawing the short straw–that dog is an accomplished digger–but I did manage to sneak out and plant a few last things after Bill got home from work tonight.

That’s all for now. I have to go check on what Chiquita’s doing.

Cheers
