Beautiful selection from Western Hills (Flowering Maple heaven) with almost bi-color, dangling bell flowers of red and orange…hummer CRACK! In warm winter climates, plants can reach 6-8’ tall and about half as wide; where freezes knock it back, about half that size. Upright, shrubby growth, perfect in half day morning sun, moist fertile soil with regular feeding. Flowers all summer and fall (later if warm). Also nice in pots. To see this in flower is to want it! Always wait till spring to cut this back.  USDA Zone 8a-10  3" pot
A very prolific Flowering Maple with a summer-long bloom of exquisite, pendent orange bells with red veins, red throat, and red pistil. 5 ft tall & 3 ft wide. Survived 12?F in our garden! Cut back to bush out. Tropicalesque! Minimum temperature: 10°F
Found as a seedling in the late 70s at Western Hills Nursery in northern California, this vigorous 6-8' shrub with slightly felty, maple-shaped leaves has creamy yellow flowers quickly aging peach with nearly maroon centers. For us, flowers year round most years; once frosted to the ground at 14 °F. Frost hardy to 10 °F, USDA zone 8, or so with mulch. Otherwise care as for other abutilons in dappled shade to shade with regular water and some fertilizer.
