Rhododendron degronianum ssp. yakushimanum 'Ken Janeck' is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In spring pink flowers emerge. Will eventually get to a fairly large plant (6’x 8’). The plant covers itself with pink flowers in April. The foliage is large (for R. yakushimanum) and fairly wide. Lovely.
Medium sized trusses open light pink fading to white in April. This compact form of "yak" has dark green, recurved leaves with a heavy dose of indumentum and a light dusting of tomentum on the new leaves. Received the American Rhododendron Society's Award of Excellence in 1969.
Dark-green foliage provides the perfect backdrop for the light pink flowers on this evergreen shrub. Very dense and compact growth habit. Blooms midseason.
This named selection is from the Seattle area. 'Ken Janeck' is an excellent representation of the larger size 'yaks' with larger leaves and plant size than most. The deepest pink of the 'yaks', it won the coveted Award of Excellence.

Large trusses comprising an average of 15 deep pink flowers open in midseason and slowly fade to white. The new growth is an attractive silver, the mature foliage dark green and heavily indumented. Compact, mounding habit. GPP award.
