Will eventually get to a fairly large plant (6’x 8’). The plant covers itself with pink flowers in April. The foliage is large (for R. yakushimanum) and fairly wide. Lovely.

Medium sized trusses open light pink fading to white in April. This compact form of "yak" has dark green, recurved leaves with a heavy dose of indumentum and a light dusting of tomentum on the new leaves. Received the American Rhododendron Society's Award of Excellence in 1969.
