Flowers are 2" across, medium to dark red, widely funnel shaped, and held in tresses of up to 8. Elliptic, dark green leaves on a plant that will be almost twice as wide as tall. Dark red buds and leaf petioles are displayed in winter. ('Fanfare x Gertrud Schale')

The reddish buds of this hybrid are ornamental all winter long. They finally open to dark red flowers in early midseason. 'Rangoon' sets buds even as a #1-size plant. Very good substitute for 'Baden-Baden'. Broad, spreading habit.
