Rhododendron catawbiense 'Album' features large, rounded trusses of frilly, white, funnel-shaped flowers with light yellow markings on the upper lobes. Offers a dense, upright habit with a spreading branch structure up to 6 feet tall and wide and broad, evergreen leaves. Responds well to pruning after flowering. Benefits from evenly moist, well-drained, slightly acidic-based soil and mulch. Use as an informal hedge, accent, foundation plant, mass planting, and for winter interest. Hummingbird and pollinator attractor. Deer and rabbit resistant.
A plant of extreme hardiness and vigor. The pure white flowers with greenish yellow spotting burst from buds that are blushed with lilac. The dark green leaves are slightly convex.
