Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Soft-pink buds open to twinkling bright-white, fragrant stars, each flower with a attractive soft-yellow splotch. This cultivar is one of the Northern Lights series from the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, bred to be very hardy (to -40) deciduous azaleas. A beautiful shrub for the landscape with its rounded spreading habit to 4-5 feet; especially effective at the edge of a woodland garden. S-PSh/M
Certainly has to rank as one of the hardiest of all the deciduous azaleas. The buds are hardy to an incredible -55°F!! Oh yes, the flowers...they open a dusky white with a single or double band of yellow running up the center petal.
One of the Northern Lights azaleas. R. ‘White Lights’ has lovely white flowers with soft yellow marking. Our plant is 20 years old and is 6’ x 2’. The foliage doesn’t get mildew like so many deciduous azaleas. Hardy to minus 30° F.
Don't complain about living in too harsh a climate because here is an azalea that will make you the envy of your neighbors. And, it can be grown practically anywhere! This is one of a series of azaleas developed by the University of Minnesota for hardiness. Not only is the plant hardy to -50 °F, but the bud is hardy to -55 °F. Need more!? It's fragrant too. Of course, the flower is white with a slender band of gold running up the center petal. FRAGRANT
