Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Loads of bright golden yellow dark-eyed daisies are born in late summer on this dwarf perennial sunflower that grows to only 2' high instead of the more typical 8'. Low Down Helianthus is a native, drought tolerant, rhizomatous herbaceous perennial with short sturdy stems and narrow willow-like foliage. Found mainly in the Ozark plateau region of the central U.S.Like many of the perennial sunflowers, Low Down is rhizomatous and will likely spread. But with its lower growing habit this may make it suitable as an informal groundcover. Use this to your advantage and either plant it in an area where this is desirable or consider using it in dryer areas as this may help to limit its spread.
These mini "sunflowers" (to 12" tall x 20" wide) with their profusion of bright-yellow-brown-eyed flowers make a cheerful addition for the fall border or container. Sun/Med
