Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This cultivar was selected for its bright red bracts during winter -- reminiscent of Rudolph's nose which makes it an interesting ornamental in the border or container during the colder months. The red bracts are followed in spring by yellow green flowers with a red centre. E. x martinii is a naturally-occurring hybrid from southern France between E. characias and E. amygdaloides, two very garden-worthy species.
Named well for that bright reindeer nose, this 2-3' E.martinii sport is colorful all year but especially noticeable in WINTER! when its rosette of bright red bracts will brighten any winter-dreary garden. SUN/Med/G PPatentAF
