Crocosmia 'Solfatare' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with chocolate foliage. In summer orange and yellow flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Attracts hummingbirds. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and even moisture - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. Butter yellow and apricot blossoms are held in sprays on 18-24" stems above bronze tinted foliage. In colder climates, lift the corms at the end of the summer as they multiply quite readily and store in a cool dry spot. In areas without reliable snow cover, a good thick layer of a protective winter mulch will help prevent the soil from freezing too deep to harm the corms.
