Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This is a selection of ours form Colocasia 'Illustris'. It has a much darker black leaf which gives it an overall richer look! It is a very impressive centerpiece in a mixed container. Patios, landscapes, containers & ponds all around the world are just screaming to have this specimen! quite unique and very beautiful.
Colocasia Black Beauty is a much darker improvement on the older Colocasia Illustrius. We found this growing among thousands of plants a few years ago and promptly called it black beauty. At times the plant can have a solid black leaf with a single green dot in the center. It suckers freely and can make a large clump over time. I have in the past over wintered Black Beauty in zone 6 with heavy mulching. Foliage: Extremely dark black with some green veins Flowers: Hooded flowers Height: 3 to 5 feet tall
This Elephant Ear has narrower leaves than many. It produces bright green leaves that as they mature begin to develop dark purplish black spots in the center. These gradually radiate outward to produce almost pure purplish black leaves with green veins. They are quite beautiful and extremely hardy. They make great container specimens for a deck or next to a swimming pool.
