From the breeding program that produced the ground breaking colocasia Black Magic and ignited national interest in this group of tropical plants, comes Diamond Head. This elephant ear blends the rich black color of its parent with the coveted glossy leaves of an alocasia. A bold garden addition either planted in the ground or in oversized containers, as shown here. Happiest in moist, rich soil.

"Royal Diamond Head" has a combination of large dark purple to black leaves with a spectacular glossy finish, a small circular-shaped dark burgundy colored 'piko' and semi-glossy dark burgundy petioles (stems). The Royal Hawaiian Colocasia series has a tidy clumping habit that is perfect for large containers, landscaped beds and pond-side plantings.
Colocasia Diamond Head is a new hybrid with dark black leaves. The leaves are velvety when young but become very shiny when mature. This produces a reflective look like they are wet. The stems are lighter than the leaves, a light maroon to pink color. The plant can grow over 6 feet tall with leaves around 2 to 3 feet longs. A must have for any tropical plant grower. Foliage: Large black glossy leaves Flowers: Hooded Height: 4 to 6 feet tall
This is another super release by hybridizer John Cho. This burgundy-black leaf is glossy, similar to colors found in Alocasias. The petioles are burgundy as well. A simply fantastic centerpiece specimen! Tidy clumper to 48" tall. Zone 7b.
