Agave victoriae-reginae 'Golden Princess' is an evergreen cactus / succulent with gold, green and variegated foliage. Features glaucous texture. Grows well with sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer, dry in winter. Does well in gritty, lean, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

A small, spineless and most desirable agave with dark green skin and white impressions on each leaf that look painted. Sharp black points on each leaf. This is a special variation with bright yellow margins - an extremely striking plant. Often nicknamed Queen of the Agaves.

This special variegated century plant was introduced by Japan's Yoshimichi Harose and is a particularly lovely version of various gold-edged forms floating around horticulture world for some time. The rosettes grow to about 15" at maturity with lovely, golden brocade patterns on the leaves. The offsets made for a number of years should be coveted as valuable trading material. As gold variegated plants tend to be a bit more sensitive than their kin, best planted out of the most direct blast of the sun. Expected to be as frost hardy as the non-variegated forms, into upper USDA zone 8 with excellent drainage. Best tried in container first. We are currently offering young plants.

Original plant obtained from Johnson's Nursery about 35 years ago. These have the appearance of 'Kazo Bana' or 'Golden Princess', a small-growing agave with yellow stripes down the sides of the leaves. These plants are from our original and are about 25 years old on their own roots.
