Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A species known primarily for its stunningly beautiful foliage. The large obovate leaves are rugose on the upper surface, covered with a dense and woolly cinnamon-brown indumentum beneath. Large inflorescences of red flowers in early spring. In my opinion, one of the finest species in the genus. Best in light shade with good drainage. Grown from hand-pollinated seed produced here in the RSBG.
Dark crimson flowers.
