Rhododendron augustinii is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In spring and summer blue, pink and purple flowers emerge. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in acidic, rich and well-drained soil.

This species is a highlight east of my house in April. We have planted 3 different varieties 30' apart. The rich purple-blue flowers cover the 8' plants. Leaves are small and flowers are 1 ½ across.

Radiant blue flowers cover this plant in early spring. Long, dark green foliage. A bold upright plant that looks great against a wall. Old specimens can reach 10-12 feet so give it room to grow.

One of the finest and most popular of all species, with masses of attractive flowers ranging in color from blue-purple (the norm) to rose-pink and white. These are grown from seed collected in the wild from a population of plants with smaller leaves growing in a sunny drier habitat at what is probably the southern limit of the species.
