Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The first question asked is where did this name come from? Jim Elliott, who is known for his imaginative plant names, has a wet spot he calls the "swamp" in the back of his property. Along the edge of it he has some of his seedlings planted and over the years one plant became a beauty. You guessed it, this is 'Swamp Beauty'! The flowers begin as large, magnolia purple buds which open to heavenly deep rose-pink with a maroon blotch. The blotch is solid in the throat, flaring to spots on the upper petal. Wow!! The foliage is medium fir green on a vigorous and well clothed plant. ('Purple Splendour' x 'Loderi Superlative')
