Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Buds open a regal red fading to a showy pink with lighter pink centers. It keeps the indumentum of its yakushimanum parent and the initial blast of red from 'Jean Marie'.
Just wait until you see the fine foliage on this exciting hybrid, but what else could you expect but the best of leaves, when you consider that two of the finest foliage plants are its parents. The medium sized foliage carries a coating of that beautiful wool rhododendron growers call indumentum which makes for such exquisite plant appearance. Then let's talk about flowers; again its parents are each considered special for their spring blossoms, and this resulting plant is also lovely. At first the buds open rich red gradually changing to a soft showy pink. It flowers heavily, and a well grown plant expresses beauty beyond belief. The parentage of this has been published as ('Sefton' x degronianum ssp. yakushimanum) which is incorrect. HARDY, AND NICE! (degronianum ssp. yakushimanum x 'Jean Marie de Montague')
