Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Though blooming closer to March than at Christmas it still comes into bloom before nearly all other rhododendrons. Dark pink buds open a light pink with a pale lavender-pink edging. A slight hint of yellow appears deep in the throat.
Extremely early pink trusses draw plant enthusiasts to this hardy rhododendron. Tough, medium sized leaves are dense on this well shaped plant. Please note: it doesn't bloom at Christmas time as the name might indicate. Its blossoming is closer to the roaring of the March lion.
