Rhododendron 'Black Widow' is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In spring burgundy and red flowers emerge. Features glossy texture. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with mostly sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in acidic, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

One of the most unique color combinations around. One could say it's black-brown with a red throat and white-tipped anthers. The upright trusses are set against recurved, heavily veined, semi-glossy leaves. Quite a show. Hybridized by Roy Thompson of Thompson Nursery in Oregon.

Wait no longer! The color of this flower is reminiscent of some Asarum spp. maroon black. I love the contrast of the white anthers against these funnel-shaped, slightly wavy-edged flowers. The bright green foliage is ribbed and is shiny on top. Great colors on this plant; the anticipation is well worth it! This is a fabulous plant was hyridized by Roy Thompson of Thompson Nursery.
