Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This fast-growing, evergreen, tendril climber from Chile has fiery orange or red tubular flowers produced over a long season from spring until fall. It has dainty, heart-shaped leaflets. It is a sparse (rather than lush) vine that would be best grown with other vines or into shrubs. Popular with hummingbirds. Best in organically rich, consistently moist but well-drained soils in full sun. May die to the ground in a hard winter.

Rare, easy, fast and fabulous vine will easily cover a 6’ x 8’ trellis in 3-4 months and then stops so it does not become a pest! Ferny dark green foliage and little tendrils for climbing…profuse waxy, orange, red orange or golden yellow tubes are produced all summer and attract hummingbirds. Rich, loamy soil and regular water, sun to light shade, great in pots too. An awesome vine, relatively undiscovered! USDA Z8

Rollicking vine usually grown as an annual but have found that it often overwinters here coming back from the roots. Fast growing to 10' with a randy precocity as it blooms young continuing into the Fall. Tubular orange-red flowers are a Hummingbird magnet.
