This is a smaller form of the species. This lady fern has finely divided pinules. The leaves actually cross each other creating a lacy plant all summer. Deciduous.
One of ?the most spectacular of all fern cultivars in its magnificent frond architecture? (J. Mickel): 2-4' arching fronds are formed of narrow pinnae (?leaves?) arranged in dramatic 3-dimensional criss-crosses. PSh/M
Fabulously lacy fern, 18-24” high and wide, vigorous grower with somewhat fragile, deciduous fronds (avoid high wind areas and large dogs). Finely divided fronds have zig zag, fringed pinnae that create high texture! Easily grown in rich, well-drained soil with medium moisture in part to full shade. Will take sun with constant moisture; tolerates drier soil than many other ferns. Deer and critter resistant!
Dark, rosey pink flowers are attached to bubble gum scented foliage. Attracts hummingbirds and bees, but is deer and rabbit resistant. Heat and drought tolerant.
This is a beautiful variety of the Eastern U.S. native Lady Fern. The fronds take on an appearance unlike any other fern with their 'X' shape appearing when each leaflet alternates from facing forward to facing backwards. 'Victoriae' always draws a lot of attention in garden landscapes and is usually makes the 'Top Ten' list for most growers.
