The tatting fern is a small growing fern with narrow fronds. This interesting garden or container plant will add a fun look to your collection.
Very unusual deciduous fern with narrow fronds arranged symmetrically around the center, leaves are ball like along the midrib giving an amazing textural effect similar to beading. Plants are about a foot tall and 18” wide. Easy in rich, moist, well-drained soil (but takes dryness). Moist plants will tolerate sun. Rabbit and deer resistant. Nice pot specimen
Pioneered in the 1950's by Jack Horner and his team at Oregon State University, Cascade hops have since gone on to become one of the most popular American hops of all time. Released in 1972, Cascade now represents around 10% of all hops grown in the United States. Cascade features excellent vigor and yield and when brewed exudes a distinct spicy citrus aroma with hints of grapefruit. Well suited to just about any ale and lager, its use is particularly popular in American Pale Ales. Its relatively poor storage stability tends to be a non-issue with its popularity and subsequent large production volumes from major US breweries ensuring harvests don't sit idle for long. Cascade was originally developed through open pollination of English variety Fuggle and the Russian variety Serebrianka and is named after the Cascade Range, mountains that run from northern California all the way north to British Columbia, Canada.
Zn 3. Beautiful oddity. Bead-like fronds.
Tatting fern is a most unique form of the lady fern (Athyrium filix-femina) called 'Frizelliae'. It forms short, arching stipes to just one foot long with alternating, half moon shaped, fringed pinnae (leaflets). The effect makes this fern popular and a sure conversation piece.
A "what's that" plant for the shady garden. This form of lady fern was discovered in an Irish woman's garden, and is noteworthy for its long narrow fronds adorned with ear like leaves alternating on either side of the rachis (center vein), Grows 1' tall by 18" wide and likes an evenly moist soil.
Athyrium filix-femina 'Frizelliae' One of the most unique ferns available. This is a deciduous lady fern from Europe. Grows to a height of 12 to 18 inches.
One of the most unique ferns with narrow fronds 12-18 inches long with pinnae reduced to beadlike balls. Plant in low sun to full shade. 12-18 inches tall. Zones 4 to 8. Deciduous.
Small frilly segments lining stems, resemble the loops and knots of tatting lace. In 1850, Irishwoman Mrs. Frizzle found this fern growing between 2 boulders on her farm. Was Mrs. Frizzle a tatter? We probably will never know...
The pinnae are reduced to rounded structures, giving the fronds the appearance of a necklace.

An unique and striking fern with narrow fronds, only 1" wide and oddly bumpy along the sides as if beaded or ... tatted. Found originally in the Irish garden of Mrs. Frizell and loved for it quirkiness ever since. To only 1 ft tall x 2 ft wide and deciduous, coming back slowly in spring. Best in bright shade or shade where soil is rich. Requires summer water. Frost hardy to -40F, USDA zone 3 and said to be deer resistant.
Perfect for you all lace-makers out there as the very narrow fronds resemble tatted lace. I have to say I don't know anyone who tats lace anymore. Tattoos yes but lace, no. Delicate and intricate texture with 12"-18" long fronds. Deciduous, moist & bright shade.
Deciduous, this fern has curious and beguiling, spiraling foliage on arching stems, a texture that intrigues. 16" tall and wide.
One of the most interesting ferns available, this newly introduced, very hardy deciduous clumping fern was originally found in 1857 in the Irish garden of Mrs. Frizell. Narrow fronds, 12-18" long with pinnae that are shaped like man-made beads on long stems. Certain to attract the attention of your garden's admirers.
