Eucomis comosa is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with green foliage. In fall and summer pink and white flowers emerge. Features glossy texture. Attracts bees and beneficial insects making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and even moisture - regular water. Prefers to be dry when dormant. Does well in rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

Eucomis comosa is a beautiful pineapple lily that produces large, late summer blooms, in shades of white to pink of small star-shaped flowers around the 20 inch stems. The tuft of bracts at the top complete the show making the inflorescence look like a pineapple. Very easy to grow in pots or in the garden where it tolerates a wide range of garden conditions. Full sun encourages the leaves to be stiff and vase-like. In the garden, grow through a carpet of ground covers such as baby's tears, Geranium ‘Ballerina’, or Sedum ‘Blue Spruce’.

Perennial bulbs from South Africa, the flowers resembling a pineapple just as the common name suggests. The leaves are a bit tropical and exotic, upright, light green and strappy, to 2.5 ft long, appearing in late spring. In late summer they surround a 12" flower stalk of white-blushed-pink, star shaped flowers with a little crown of green bracts at the top, providing more pineapple-ness. Not so choosy about soil as long as its well-drained or protected from winter rains. Average summer water. Frost hardy to 10F, USDA zone 8.
