Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Culled from generations of seedlings, this very dark flowering, South African iris relative has deep burgundy flowers and stems to 5'. Wonderful on a bank where the flowers can reach out and be seen from below. The grass-like foliage is evergreen -- so it shouldn't be cut back -- and slowly forms a clump to 2-3' wide. Full sun and good drainage is best. Frost hardy to below 10 °F, into USDA zone 7.
