Tulipa 'Karate'

Triumph tulips are among the best of the hybrid tulips with strong stems and classic cupped flowers that bloom in mid to late season. They hold up well to inclement weather and are good for forcing indoors. Tulipa 'Karate' is an extraordinary cultivar that changes colour as it ages. The flowers first emerge primrose yellow and age to creamy white as pink speckling deepens across the petals. Eventually the flowers become white and pink and then nearly all cherry red with white speckling all on tall stems to 20 inches high. Amazing! Hybrid tulips can persist in the garden for many years. Afterall, they rebloom each year in the fields of the Netherlands. Provide full sun where bulbs aren't shaded by other plants, fertilize with bulb food as soon as they emerge in spring, and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
