Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Echinops bannaticus 'The Giant' is a huge form of this globe thistle that can grow to seven feet high! The tennis ball-sized spheres start white and age to light blue atop vertical stems with grey-green, thistle-like leaves. Very popular with bees and butterflies. An excellent back of the border and specimen plant. Great for cutting and drying. Tolerant of poor soils and periods of drought. Photo: Wikimedia.
