Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Correa 'Dusky Bells' are evergreen shrubs with lance-shaped to rounded leaves, scurfy beneath, and solitary or clustered tubular flowers with 4 spreading lobes is a low spreading evergreen shrub with scurfy stems, ovate leaves and pendent, tubular carmine-red flowers to 2.5cm in length from autumn to spring
Sprinkled amongst waxy green leaves, 'Dusky Bells's pendulous red tubular flowers, dressed in chartreuse calyxes and flared tips, become one of winter's more endearing attractions. The dainty long lasting blooms appear in autumn and persist through early spring, luring both gardeners and hummingbirds alike. Whether utilized as a low mounding specimen in a large vessel or as a tidy evergreen ground cover for banks, hillsides or other tough spots, the Red Australian Fuchsia favors good drainage and light shade where it's hot. This densely branched shrub is undaunted by deer, ocean frontage, poor rocky sites, and occasional drought. Affiliate with other steadfast companions like Ceanothus 'Concha' and Stipa arundinacea.
Also known as 'Carmine Bells', this selection grows to 3' tall and 6' across. Flowers are dull red to carmine-pink, appearing fall through spring. Its dense, billowing habit makes it a useful groundcover. Tough and durable in our experience.
RED AUSTRALIAN FUCHSIA - An evergreen shrub in its Native Australia growing 2' tall and 4' wide in filtered light to sun. Likes well drained soil and keep the plant slightly on the dry side. Beautiful pendulous carmine red tubular bell shaped flowers with flared tips. Waxy green leaves on spreading pendulous stems. Flowers from autumn thru spring. Temps 40-65 degrees, hardy zone 9. A favorite for Hummingbirds. Absolutely stunning in flower.
Suited for only the mildest gardens sustaining damage when it hits the teens. We have grown this downtown perfectly for 2 years except for the winter of 09 when there was dieback. Fabulous container sunroom plant for the winter where it will bloom Dec-April with soft pink bells.
This old standby of the Australian fuchsias (actually in the citrus family) has been available but scarce on the West Coast for many years. Shrubs to 4' with small rounded leaves and nearly brick-red bell flowers, blooming profusely from mid autumn through winter and occasionally in summer, preferring soil that is not rich and summer water that is only occasional in any exposure but the deepest shade. Though most at home in coastal gardens, we find it makes an indispensable container plant
