Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Found on Shohuckson Island, South Korea by J.C. Raulston. We first saw the original plant in a greenhouse at NCSU. J.C. was very good at getting plants out to the public and 2 years later we asked if he had any plants available. He said 4" or 6'. We took the 6' that is now 30' tall. This large form of S. japonica has flowers double the size of the species. This is real show- stopper in May and June.
This cultivar is more heat tolerant than any of the other Japanese Snowbells. In comparison to the species it has larger flowers and larger shiny leaves, and blooms repeatedly.
Emerald Pagoda was a plant collected in Korea by J.C. Raulston and has larger thicker leaves and larger flowers than typical Styrax japonicum.

Emerald Pagoda has large leathery shiny leaves and large fragrant white flowers.
Very fast grower. The leathery, lustrous dark green leaves are larger than the other varieties of S. japonica. Waxy, 1" wide, white, heavily textured flowers are noticeably larger than the others as well.
