We have had Styrax japonica 'Carillon' for many years and it's a beautiful small tree. The only problem is our 30-year-old plant is 12' X 12'. So, it takes up a lot of room in a small garden, however beautiful it is. This excellent plant will grow upright with a terminal leader; but all the stems are strongly weeping. We have seen trees that are less then 2' wide. The flowers are the typical white stars in May and June.
