Cormous perennial that sends up strappy foliage in spring that is dormant by summer with naked blooms in fall – tulip shaped with bright rose-purple and intense tessellation (checker pattern) of petals and purple anthers, in low 6” tall, short clusters most of September, looking fresh for weeks. Thrives in sun in well-drained soil, appreciates moisture during growth and bloom periods, fine with dry during summer dormancy. Deer/critter resistant. All parts are toxic.
